When Alyce from Blossom Heart Quilts did a call out for pattern testers for the 2nd of her #makingmerrybhq patterns, I knew this was the kind of pattern testing that could be a lot of fun!
All of the blocks had been taken by the time I was able to get back to her, but as we chatted, we thought that perhaps I could turn one of the blocks into a quilt top so we could see how the repeat would look. And can I just say wow. I am going to turn this into a baby quilt for a gorgeous little girl I know.
The fabric requirements for each 12” block worked really well for cutting into the sweet little fat eighth bundle I got of Kate Spain’s newest range, Grand Canal. I am so glad I did, the longer I played with the range, the more I Ioved it.
I certainly praised my new quilting gadget FOMO purchase of a Bloc Loc whilst I was making this quilt top, it was invaluable. It must have saved me at least an hour of trimming time. If you haven't tried one yet, I highly recommend them!!
Once everything was trimmed, the blocks came together like a dream! I went from 1 block to quilt top in a matter of a few hours. This is honestly my favourite block out of all of them - that mosaic print is just stunning!
The pattern was a lot of fun to make, the instructions were clear and easy to follow, so head on over to Blossom Heart Quilt's shop and pick yourself up a copy!
