The Honey Pot Bee

I was so excited when Molli Sparkles asked me join him for The Honey Pot Bee back at the start of 2017, and I’ve loved watching all those fabulous blocks come together! I love that this bee is so different from your average quilt bee, you get to keep the blocks for yourself, so you end up with a fun quilt at the end of the year long sampler. Feel free to head on over to The Honey Pot Bee Facebook group to look at all of the previous blocks and what the clever members of the group have been making!

September is my month, spring is upon us here in Australia, and I’m so looking forward to the sunshine and warmth returning!

Now I’m not a designer myself, so when I was thinking about the kind of block I wanted to share for my month as Queen, I knew I wanted to find a fun, scrap busting block from an Aussie designer. When I came across this Scrappy Cross Block from Kirsty at Bonjour Quilts, the possibilities just leapt out from the screen.

At 8.5” finished, and using those 2.5” squares in the centre, it’s a great size for  scrap busting, or using a mini charm pack you have had sitting around!

I raided my scrap bin to start a full quilt of navy and peach blocks, this colour palette has been taunting me for a while, and this block is just so easy to whip together.

The finished block is also a great size for making a few extra blocks to fill out your quilt top when it’s time to put the whole thing together at the end!
